Introducing The Untrodden Ways: Quick Quests

Willis, MI – Melriks Design, Inc., is pleased to announce the release of two Quick Quests for The Untrodden Ways – The Marvellous Musician and Kari Woodengown. These add-on adventure modules contain the vows, milestones, NPCs, and unique Asset cards for new rpg campaigns set on the Untrodden Ways, an Urban Fantasy setting for the Ironsworn game engine.

“While researching for The Untrodden Ways: Hildrson, we discovered a series copyright free, fairy tale books on Project Gutenberg. Reading through the short stories in The Red Fairy Book, we determined these classic tales combined with local urban legends would be perfect for new stories about locations on the Untrodden Ways,” said Rik Mertens, writer for The Untrodden Ways.

What Are Quick Quests?

The difference between Quick Quests and our epic add-on adventure modules is scope. A Quick Quest provides all the components needed for a role-playing campaign, but no over-arching story. Quick Quests rely upon the player’s imagination to connect their vow to the milestones. The Quick Quests are separate from the larger narrative started in The Untrodden Ways: White Bluff and continued in The Untrodden Ways: Hildrson.

Why Quick Quests

The goal of The Untrodden Ways: Quick Quests is to expand the lore of the Untrodden Ways universe – more locations, more creatures, and more magical items. “Development time for a Quick Quest is significantly shorter than our epic adventure modules allowing us to publish Quick Quests faster and at a lower price point,” said Mr. Mertens.

Adventure Modules for Solo, Duet, or GM-lead Gaming

There are thirty-seven stories in the Red Fairy Book. Currently, two of them are available for The Untrodden Ways – TUW003-18: Kari Woodengown and TUW003-36: The Marvellous Musician.

TUW003-18: Kari Woodengown is set in south Texas and introduces a new sample character, Kari Woodengown. Play the adventure as Kari or use the NPCs and locations for your own story. “Chased from your home by your evil step-mother and step-sister, can you find a way back to Old Earth in time to save your father? Earn the trust of the Great Blue Bull. Survive the perils of the Troll Territories. Break your evil step-mother’s hold on Kingsville, TX, and the Kingdom of Aerondale.”

In TUW003-36: The Marvellous Musician, the adventure takes place in Silver City, New Mexico. From the Quick Quest description, “a Tollomalus Chanter searches for a lost way-portal capturing humans and speaking-animals to do his bidding. Can you resist the Chanter’s evil power?”

Our next Quick Quest, TUW003-16: The Voice of Death, has a February 2025 release date. When all of the Quick Quests from the Red Fairy Book are finished, they will be collected in a full volume as a printable hardcover book.
